CLASS 1: Taking the Leap: Why and how more people are taking steps towards self-reliance.
Do you ever have that feeling deep within yourself that you are itching to take a step out of the mainstream of consumerism and corporate dependence? Whether it is a little step or a big leap it is very important to try to understand where that is coming from as well as how you can start achieving living in a more sustainable manner. This course will be taught by Kristina, who has had these feelings for most of her lifetime and has taken the largest leap towards total self-sufficiency. This course will also have a guest lecturer, Carol Bridges, who has been homesteading and “using the system as a tool against itself” for most of her life. April 28th, June 2nd 2012 10am to 5pm $55

Mental Leaps: Where does this feeling from:
Will include readings from Daniel Quinn and other authors to explore the topic of why we feel the need to disconnect.
Systematic Leaps:
Carol Bridges will describe some of the methods that she is following in order to work with and/or around the requirements that keep you fully in the culture of consumerism with few exits. This particularly pertains to raising children, running a business and other key tips for successful transition from consumerism to independance.
Bridging the Gap:
How to use technology, infrastructure, and the internet to become self-reliant while still staying connected.
Self-Sufficiency Tools:
Dealing with debt: How to manage this giant tether cord into the culture.
The Art of Bartering: How to use the least corruptible system of getting what you need and getting rid of what you don’t.
Unschooling your children: Where the most useful form of education really comes from and how to start doing it.
Emotional Leap: How to Slow Down and Give in:
Exercises
to help you understand that it is alright to choose this path, that no one’s
expectations matter but your own, as well as tools to help you understand what
making a living really is.
